I took this photo one morning in spring in Claremont, Calif. It made me think of the world of the not-too-distant future, when our species is finally and thankfully extinct and the earth reclaims itself by devouring all the industrial junk we've heaped upon it.
But then, every fall the leaves dry up and blow away, revealing a blank wall for much of the year. Just as the seasons change, so does hope spring eternal for the future of humankind.
